History of Nunkhawa Union
Nunkhawa Union was formed in 1943 with the first 15 villages and 3 wards.
At that time the chairman of the union was called a panchayat.
During the rule of Pakistan in 1950, the post of Gram Panchayat was declared the post of Union Chairman.
In 1967, some of the then representatives of Pakistan were made the Chairman of the Jury Board Panchayat.
Md. A: Hamid Sarkar was nominated as the chairman of the first union council and he was the chairman of this union during the war of liberation.
After the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, Dr. Dalilur Rahman was elected, and now Md. Shahabul Hossain is acting as the Chairman of Sabul Union Parishad.
At present Nunkhawa Union Parishad has 20 small and big villages and 9 wards. Most of this traditional union is in the river.
